The Five College Area





Hiking on the Robert Frost Trail
The Robert Frost Trail meanders 40 miles from
Amherst northwards to Montague, passing over Mt.
Orient, Pulpit Hill, Long Mountain, Rattlesnake Knob, and
Mt. Toby, and ending in Wendell State Forest. The trail
intersects many area roads, making hikes of any length are feasible,
and the terrain is welcoming to both experienced and
beginning hikers.
Historic Deerfield
Situated
on a 330-year-old, mile long street, Historic Deerfield
preserves and interprets the architecture, artifacts and
lifestyle of a prosperous early New England town. The
extraordinary houses with their antique furnishings, along
with the exhibition galleries and collections, comprise some
of the finest examples of publicly available Americana in

Emily Dickinson Homestead.
This Museum consists of two
historic houses in the center of Amherst, Massachusetts,
home to the poet Emily Dickinson and her family during the nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries. The Homestead was the birthplace and home of Emily Dickinson
and the Evergreens, next door, was home to
her brother Austin, his wife Susan, and their three
children.
